School Liaison Officer
School Liaison Officer

The School Liaison Officer collaborates with other Child, Youth and School Services entities, installation organizations and the local school community to address educational issues, ensuring the positive educational experience of military children and youth. School Liaison Services can be a valuable resource before you arrive at Fort Leavenworth, during your stay here, and upon your departure.

Through partnering with the local and military community, the SLO acts as a communication link providing a variety of resources to provide assistance to students in transition.

Ways in which the School Liaison Officer may provide assistance:

  • Addresses issues with registration and graduation requirements in the local schools (public and private).
  • Tutoring.
  • Support to home school families.
  • Provide information about school options for families making a PCS move; refers families to SLO at gaining installation.

For information, please call the School Liaison Officer at 684-1655, DSN 552-1655 or email Cheryl.Gelwix@us.army.mil.
The Fort Leavenworth SLO Office is located in Cooke Hall at 327 Pope Avenue.
Office hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
